One of the most sought-after work passes in Singapore is employment pass, also known as EP. Employment pass is basically meant for the foreign professionals, entrepreneurs, managers, executives and directors who wish to relocate to Singapore to work and stay.

The Employment Pass (EP) or Employment Visa is the most popular visa issued in Singapore. Foreign executives, entrepreneurs and skilled professionals willing to work and stay in Singapore prefer the EP. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) which is the governing body looking after the immigration policies and affairs in Singapore, also permits the foreign entrepreneurs to apply for EP after having incorporated the Singapore company. The validity period for the Employment Pass (E Pass) Singapore is upto 2 years for first time applicants, which can further be renewed upto 3 years.

Application Criteria for E Pass

• You can apply for an E Pass if you are a foreign entrepreneur, executive or the owner/director of a Singapore company willing to relocate to Singapore in order to work and stay here.
• If you have an employment offer from a Singapore company with a salary of atleast S$3,000.
• As an employer in Singapore, if you plan to hire foreign professionals, you will have to apply for the E Pass for your prospective employees.

Singapore Employment Passes – Types & Eligibility Criteria

There are three basic types of E Passes in Singapore, the details of which are illustrated below.

Documents Required for E Pass Application

• The Employment Pass Application form no. 8
• The resume of the applicant with details of the work experience.
• A passport-size photograph not older than 3 months.
• Details mentioned in the applicant’s passport.
• The educational certificates and past employment testimonials of the applicant.

Procedure and Timeline of E Pass Application

After having submitted all the requisite documents to the MOM, it takes approximately 7 days for the approval of the application. Once the application is approved, MOM will send a mail of In-Principle-Approval (IPA) letter to the address of the applicant, which is valid upto 6 months. The applicant must collect the IPA letter before its date of expiry.

Renewal Procedure of Singapore E Pass

The MOM will send a renewal form to your employer, two months prior to the expiry date of the Employment Pass Singapore. You need to fill the form and submit it 4 weeks before the date of expiry of your E Pass. After the successful approval of your renewal form, you can collect it form the head office of MOM Singapore.
