Personalised Employment Pass (PEP) Scheme

The government of Singapore has introduced Personalized Employment Pass (PEP) Scheme with a vision to encourage global talent or resource to work in Singapore. The key advantage of this pass is that a PEP pass holder is not bound under any specific employer and can switch jobs without having to apply new work pass.

The Personalized Employment Pass (PEP) is a special kind of pass issued to top-tier foreign professionals willing to work and stay in Singapore. This pass is issued based on the merits of an individual rather than the employer in Singapore. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) allows the PEP holder to switch jobs in Singapore without applying for any other visa and can stay upto 6 months in Singapore looking for new career opportunities after having left the previous job.

Characteristics of Singapore PEP

  • Applicable only to top-tier or highly qualified individuals willing to relocate to Singapore to work and stay.
  • PEP is not for foreign entrepreneurs looking to setup business in Singapore. In fact, the Singapore PEP holders are not supposed to incorporate a business of their own.
  • The validity period of PEP is 3 years and is not renewable.
  • After the expiry of the validity period, the PEP holder must either apply for an Employment Pass or for permanent residency.
  • The PEP holders can bring their spouse and children to Singapore on Dependant’s Pass.
